The CDC has updated dog import regulations that went into effect on August 1, 2024. These regulations require all dogs entering the U.S. to be at least six months old, appear healthy, have a microchip, and be accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt. Additional requirements may apply depending on the dog's country of origin, particularly for dogs coming from high-risk rabies countries.

General Requirements for all dogs:
  • Age: Dogs must be at least six months old.
  • Health: Dogs must appear healthy upon arrival.
  • Microchip: Dogs must have a microchip that can be read by a universal scanner.
  • CDC Dog Import Form: A receipt for the completed CDC Dog Import Form must be presented.
